HOW WE HELP
Here at NEL Foundation, we are saddled with two responsibilities – Stand with people who are the risk of homelessness and offer life skills classes. These services are poised at ensuring that there are no homeless persons on the street and that people acquire essential life skills that allow them to coexist with other people. People often take house skills for granted. As someone who lives in a home, you will find it pretty easy to live among your family. You will also deem things like running a home, cleaning a home, managing money, and maintaining a social network quite normal.
However, people who have stayed homeless for quite a while don’t know how to handle a home. This is one of the primary reasons why they keep getting evicted from apartments. At NEL Foundation, we offer life skills that teach homeless people how to manage a home effectively.
These life skills acquaint homeless people with basic living tips and allow them to fit into the community naturally. In time, they will learn to be self-sufficient. The life skills we teach can be divided into three broad categories namely –
